It is with a bittersweet heart that I write this last “Rachel’s Ramblings” for the Central Arkansas AC monthly newsletter. It has been an honor to lead you, my sisters, as President of this group for the past 3 years. It has been an amazing 3 year journey, as we have grown from a group of 22 alumnae to currently 46 dues paying alumnae and over 160 sisters on our Facebook and e-mail list serv. We watched a new collegian chapter start from the ground that has grown into a thriving chapter of our sisterhood. I am so thankful for all of your work and support of our AC! I am excited for the leadership that Taylor is bringing to the office of President, as well as the ideas and leadership of the slated executive board. I still plan to be involved (and hope all of you will too) as I continue to serve our alumnae chapter as the Parliamentarian / Past President.

In addition I am excited to announce that I have accepted the position of Alumnae Panhellenic Specialist on the Alumnae National Leadership Team of Kappa Delta for the next biennium (2011-2013). In filling this new National Officer position, will work with the Alumnae NLT team to ensure that all 200+ Alumnae Panhellenics have Kappa Delta representation, and work with the NPC delegation on education materials for those in office. I am honored, excited, and a little nervous about my new position – but thrilled to serve our sisterhood on a national level.

CAKD is still 17 members away from our 2010-2011 membership goal of 63 members. Please consider joining today to
help us reach our goal (and help us be considered for the membership building award at convention) by either joining
via AOT dues or paying the $5 service fee that the chapter pays per member. We ask that you pay by March 15, 2011 so
that we can complete our annual reports shortly after our annual business meeting on 3/16/11. You can pay by sending

Collegiate Chapter News and Notes
Zeta Gamma -- The 2nd annual University of Arkansas Shamrock Annual Talent Show will be held at 6 PM in the Union
Ballroom on Wednesday, March 9, 2011. In addition the chapter will also host a Spaghetti Dinner at the Zeta Gamma
Chapter House on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 from 5:00-8:00 PM. If you would like additional information about the
events or information on making a donation, please contact Shamrock Chair Lindsey Albright at lalbrigh@uark.edu.

In addition, VP-PR Kate Sorrell sent the following updates from the Zeta Gamma chapter:
We are really excited about Shamrock this year, and invite all alumni to attend! For the talent show, we have
received donations from all over Fayetteville for prizes during the show. Also, we have participants from every Greek House on campus to perform in the talent show. We are expecting the event to be a great success! Of course all of the proceeds will be going to Prevent Child Abuse America, and also locally to the Child Safety Center in Springdale, AR.

Also, the house is doing very well this semester that we would love to let the Alumnus know about.
1. We were named 4th in grades for the entire Greek community at the University.
2. Kacey Keefe, a Zeta Gamma junior, was named Miss University of Arkansas. This was a very big honor.
3. Kappa Delta was name the Best Sorority on Campus by the Arkansas Traveler.
4. Our snack kitchen was renovated over Christmas break, which has been an excellent update to the house.
5. Recruitment Practice has begun in preparation of the upcoming rush. The Greek Life Office is predicting a
quota of 150 girls for this upcoming year, so we are preparing for this large upcoming recruitment.
6. We had a successful Girl Scout Event on February 8, 2011 in which we taught some local Girl Scouts about bullying.
This semester has been very successful so far, and we hope to continue this trend for the remainder of the
semester! If you have any questions about anything feel free to email me at ksorrell@uark.edu at anytime. I am always happy to help.

Nominating Committee

As the New Year begins, it is time to begin thinking about the new leadership of our organization. The first step is to appoint a nominating committee to accept and solicit applications for our groups 9 executive officer positions. The past president (Rachel Davis Lipsey) and 2 other CAKD members, who are not running for an executive officer position, are needed for this committee. If you would be willing to serve on this very important committee, please contact Rachel at centralarkansaskd@hotmail.com by January 20, 2011.

Leadership Opportunities for 2011-2012

Officer elections for CAKD occur in March each year at our annual business meeting. This past month, a poll was taken of our current officers; and only 3 of the 9 executive officer members are planning on returning to their position next year; including the office of President. Because of this, we would like the CAKD membership to begin thinking about the various officer positions that are available and begin to think if you could apply and take on the position. Race for the Cure – October 16th. We know that many of our Kappa Delta alumnae are participating with other groups, and if so – that is wonderful! If you don’t mind, can you please send us an e-mail (centralarkansakd@hotmail.com) so that we can note how many of our members are participating with other organizations? If you don’t have a team to participate with, please consider joining the Kappa Delta Team. They will be meeting at Jason’s Deli in North Little Rock at 6:30 AM on Saturday morning. Founder’s Day Banquet – October 21st. Join Eta Sigma Chapter and the Central Arkansas Alumnae Chapter as we celebrate the 113th Birthday of Kappa Delta! KDs are invited to share a Dutch treat dinner at 6:30 pm, with dessert and the Founder’s Day presentation at 7:30 PM in the upper room of US Pizza on JFK in North Little Rock. We will be honoring all the Diamond, Emerald, White Rose, and Nautilus Circle inductees in the Central Arkansas area, as well as introducing the “Ever Loyal” campaign of Kappa Delta. We hope you can join us for this event!

Arkansas Homecoming – October 30th. TBD. Because game time has not been released yet, I assume that CAKD will hear later this month about Zeta Gamma’s homecoming plans. When I hear any information, I will pass it along to you.

Meal for Eta Sigma Recruitment –
CAKD is providing a meal for the ladies of Eta Sigma Chapter during their formal recruitment on Thursday, September 23rd. We are planning on getting a Chick-fil-a Chicken Nugget Tray, potato chips, cookies, and drinks. A sign-up e-mail for paper goods, food items, and people to drop it off at the MSS location that night will be sent later this month.

KD State Day – various times/places, Friday, September 24th – Sunday, September 26th. Make plans to participate in the KD state day, sponsored by the NW Arkansas Alumnae Chapter.
Here is the schedule:
Friday the 24th – Dinner at the KD House – 7-10 PM
Saturday the 25th – Tailgating at the Gardens – TBD
Sunday the 26th – Brunch at the KD House – 11-1 PM

Founder’s Day Event – TBA. Kappa Delta Founder’s Day is October 23rd, and a joint Founder’s Day event with Eta Sigma chapter will be scheduled for either the week before or week after this date. Plan to join us as we celebrate our 113th anniversary of the sisterhood.

Call for Nominations – Order of the Emerald and Order of the Pearl. CAKD is encouraged to nominate one alumna for the Order of the Emerald and the Order of the Pearl, to be presented during the 2011 National Convention in late June 2011 in Tucson, Arizona. Kappa Delta is proud to recognize women who have achieved prominence within their community through their professional and/or volunteer work (Order of the Pearl) or whom have given extraordinary service to Kappa Delta (Order of the Emerald), all while exemplifying the ideals that Kappa Delta represents. Please send in your nominations by October 1, 2010 to be considered as the CAKD nominees. KiDs Grant Deadline Moved – The Kappa Delta Foundation has recently announced that the deadline date for Alumnae Chapters to apply of KiDs Grants has been moved to January 15, 2011. They are making changes to better serve KD alumnae chapters and the orgaznizations that will receive the funding. Alumnae Magazine News – KDHQ sent word that total sales for the 2009-2010 Magazine Sales Campaign were $483,016.00, with alumnae chapter orders totaling $9,703.98. CAKD sold $97.00 last year. The KD Chapter House fund reaped the benefit of 50% of these sales this year.
There are several ways to support the KD Chapter House fund through magazine sales this year. You can find an alumnae or collegiate chapter to support by following these instructions:
1. Go to http://kd.efundraising.com.
2. Type the name of the alumnae or collegiate chapter where it asks for “Chapter Name”
3. Click on the “Find Button”
4. When “Search Results” are displayed, click on the name of your alumnae chapter.
5. Click on “Shop for Magazines” to take you to your AC or CC’s online store.

Each collegiate chapter has a minimum sales requirement per member, so please consider helping out one of the lovely chapters in our sisterhood. Generally 50% of total sales go directly to the KD Chapter House Fund.

CAKD is entering reference season, and we need your help to gather information and write references on qualified potential new members. Each year we receive requests from collegiate chapters, local panhellenic associations, and individual potential members for references. Last year CAKD wrote over 130 references to 16 collegiate chapters.

CAKD will hold 3 separate reference meetings to organize and sort references: June 10th, June 29th, and July 18th (in conjunction with the annual Mexican Fiesta Chapter support meeting). If you can make the meetings, GREAT -- if not, we can still use your help! CAKD also is looking for reference writers. These sisters let us know if they are connected with area schools, churches, or community groups that PNMs might have been associated. Our first Networking 101 session was a true power hour! After visiting over catered lunch from Olive Garden, we received invaluable information from certified business coach Marcia Cook with Pinnacle Performance Solutions. Marcia's session "Using Kappa Delta in Your Network" focused on why, where, and how to use networking to make you more successful not only in your business, but in your everyday life.

Did you know that referrals generate 80% more results than cold calling? And, approximately 60% of all new jobs and contacts are made through networking?

There are almost 350 Kappa Deltas in the local area. Imagine if you would engage with our common circle of friends on a professional and personnel level. Your networking circle(s) just grew tremendously! With active listening, an important networking skill, you could help other business colleagues, friends, and family fulfill their needs. According to Marcia, networking is learning about people, what they do, and how you can help them.

Networking is an important aspect in being successful in today's fast paced and challenging environment. It happens everywhere - community organizations, referral groups, faith communities, and online. Go one step further and add KAPPA DELTA to your repertoire for networking.

Even though the calendar says summer doesn't start until June 21st, I'm pretty sure that Mother Nature thought we should get to summer just a few weeks early! I hope that you each enjoyed a wonderful Memorial day weekend, remembering the sacrifices of so many who have made our country free. As several people have mentioned this weekend, "Thank you" just doesn't seem to say enough to our military personnel and their families, but I know that it is the heart of so many grateful citizens.

As we enter the hopefully relaxing summer months, I hope that you will keep KD in mind. June, July and August have reference meetings, chapter support events, networking meetings, and just general summer-time fun that we would love for you to attend. Also, we currently have 28 paid members as of 5/30/2010 for 2010-2011. CAKD's goal is 75 members for 2010-2011, so we still need many of you to consider joining us to make this the best year EVER for CAKD. NWARKD received a $500 grant for the very 1st KD State Day in Arkansas, and details are being planned for this event. Get excited about this weekend! Community Service Opportunities
Each month CAKD will provide opportunities that you can participate in activities that support the values and philanthropies of Kappa Delta Sorority. Prevent Child Abuse America -- CASA of Pulaski County Pedal Races – April 10th. The 5th Annual Pulaski County CASA Pedal Car Races is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m at the Rivermarket. There will be racing, music, dancing, games and more! Bring your whole family! The cost is $5.00 per child. During this spa themed retreat, CAKD officers, members and potential members will evaluate our past year as an Alumnae Chapter, Approve Chapter Bylaws, participate in Goal Setting for 2010-2011, Budget Planning, and Master Calendar Planning for the year. In between, participants will enjoy making body scrub, pampering themselves with cosmetics, and some spa-themed snacks. Help us make CAKD the best it can be in 2010-2011!

Appetizers will be served, and 10% of all total sales for the shopping party will go to Prevent Child Abuse America’s, a KD philanthropy, projects and services. January Eta Sigma Colony Events
Eta Sigma will have a busy month with 3 separate CDC visits, Second Degree, and Initiation this month. Check your calendars to see if you can help out on any of the following days:

• January 14th at 6:00 PM– New Member Exam. Eta Sigma is in need of non-CAB proctors for this event in
the UALR Donaghey Center, Room D. CAB will be meeting with the CDC national officer in town at that
time, and so we are in need of some KDs to help out for that night. Contact Jessica Holcomb at kdjesi570@hotmail.com or 479-979-8300.

• January 18th at 5:00 PM – Second Degree. Because of CDC and colony scheduling, 2nd Degree has been
planned for a time when no national officer, or assisting chapter, can help with the Eta Sigma 2nd Degree
ceremony. The Eta Sigma CAB has been placed in charge of preparing and presenting the 2nd degree ceremony to the Eta Sigma New Members. This event is much more meaningful if we have Kappa Delta sisters attend and start the first step to welcoming the sisters into our sisterhood. We will have a review at 5 pm in the UALR Donaghey Center, Room D; with the ceremony starting at 6 pm. Contact Rachel Lipsey at

• January 23rd at 2:00 PM – Initiation. Zeta Omega (Memphis) chapter will prepare and present Initiation for

prepare and serve at in the Initiation Reception following. While there is no real need to practice (as Zeta
Omega collegians will take the lead in this ceremony), we can offer a review if members would like. Contact

CAKD Magazine Sales 2009-2010
National Kappa Delta asks each member to support the Chapter Housing Fund by participating in magazine sales each year. National Girls Day – Moved to November 14, 2010
Due to a large number of groups wanting to participate, the Confidence Coalition has moved National Girls Day from February 28, 2010 to November 14, 2010. So, instead of a National Girls Day event in February, our Alumnae Chapter will work with a local Girl Scout troop on the topic of Confidence for our monthly meeting. Order of the Emerald and Order of the Pearl 2011
National Kappa Delta offers recognition for achievements of its members to and outside of the sisterhood in its Order of the Emerald and Order of the Pearl awards. Each alumnae chapter is eligible to nominate one member for Order of the Pearl and Order of the Emerald. These nominations are due by October 1, 2010. UALR 2nd Degree and Women And Children 1st Christmas Presents

Please join us for the UALR 2nd Degree and Women And Children 1st Christmas Presents on Monday, November 16 at 6:00pm - 9:00pm at the Home of Rachel Lipsey.

CAKD has been invited to participate in the 2nd Degree ceremony for the New Members of Eta Sigma Chapter (UALR). If you would like to participate, please be at Rachel's House by 6:00 PM in your whites.

Immediately following 2nd degree, CAKD and Eta Sigma will participate in the annual Christmas Wrapping party for Women and Children 1st. Bring with you small toys (think Happy Meal prized size) and small gifts for the women in the shelter. Toiletry items are also appreciated. Bring your favorite dessert, and we'll make some coffee and hot chocolate for everyone.

Please come when you can! Even if you can't make it to 2nd degree at 6, plan on coming over for the yummy desserts and wrapping party!

Girl Scouts
CAKD is interested in reaching Girl Scout troops in Spring 2010. If you are a troop leader, and would be interested in a KD event, please let me know. One of the suggestions is to do a Uniquely Me event (http://www.girlscouts.org/program/program_opportunities/leadership/uniquelyme.asp). Rachel Lipsey represented Kappa Delta at the 5th annual Smores in the City fundraiser on September 17th for Girl Scouts – Diamonds of Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. She had a great time networking with the leadership of the Girl Scout council and meeting new friends who support Girl Scouts.

UALR Recruitment
CAKD appreciates all those who sent in recommendations for UALR PNMs these past couple of months. You helped to get the very best girls to colonize the new Kappa Delta chapter. CAKD also appreciates the following KDs who helped support the UALR Recruitment Meal on September 25th: Amanda Pace, Jessica Holcomb, Leigha Jones, Sharon Davis, Karen Huber, Jennifer Stanley, and Cristina Easterling. Several CAKD members had the opportunity to visit with the KD colonization team as well as several ladies from Zeta Omega and encourage them through the extension process for UALR Kappa Delta. CAKD also had the opportunity to meet our soon to be sisters at UALR for Bid Day 2009. We had a great time meeting 11 of the new members joining Kappa Delta at UALR, and getting to know them. Several chapter advisors have been attending New Member meetings and 1st degree ritual ceremonies to learn more about these girls’ hopes and dreams for the new chapter. They are a great bunch of ladies, and through COB have already recruited 9 more members, and have met the current UALR house
total of 20 (1st on campus to do so!)

It is not too late to consider joining the Chapter Advisory Board (CAB) for Eta Sigma (UALR). Placement in positions on CAB should occur within the next 2 months with training soon after the placement.

CAKD Directory
Be sure and come to the October 22nd Founder’s Day event so you can pick up a copy of the CAKD Directory. Thank you so much to those who paid your dues during the past month and during our spring membership drive. We now have the alumnae chapter’s highest membership number ever with 51 members (As of 10/15/09)! We broke last year’s previous high membership number of 32 by over 59%. Way to go CAKD!

Central Arkansas Kappa Deltas got together for Dinner at US Pizza in North Little Rock on July 24th,, and also helped prepare 13 care packages for collegiate chapters of our active CAKD members on July 29th with a Mexican Fiesta at the Home of Angela Plymale. Care packages were sent to Zeta Gamma (University of Arkansas), Epsilon Chi (Baylor University), Beta Lambda (Georgetown College), Sigma Sigma (Iowa State University), Delta Omega (Mississippi State University), Nu (Oklahoma State University), Alpha Delta (Rhodes College), Gamma Kappa (University of Louisiana, Lafayette), Delta Zeta (University of Louisiana, Monroe), Alpha Mu (University of Mississippi), Epsilon Alpha (Missouri University of Science and Technology), Eta Epsilon (University of the South), and Zeta Psi (Valparaiso University). We hope our collegiate sisters enjoy their goodies, and we hope to expand our care package send off in the coming years. Kappa Delta Convention
One of the biggest things involving Kappa Delta alumnae groups is that we have now, officially, been changed from Alumnae Associations to Alumnae Chapters. Our national officers hope that this change with help to remind us that our alumnae membership is just as important, although different, in our post-college lives and that we are connected with all Kappa Delta collegiate and alumnae groups.

I arrived at the 1st ever Alumnae President’s Leadership Conference tardy, but just in time to hear Corre Anding Stegall speak on leadership. Captivating and encouraging are what I remember about her presentation, and it is easy to see why so many love and adore one of our most talented KD sisters. The first day of the conference covered things like AA officer responsibilities and membership growth suggestions. A panel discussion, with audience questions and discussion, was both helpful and encouraging to the work that we do here in Central Arkansas.

The large general sessions were huge productions, along with some of our favorite Disney characters like Cinderella, Belle, and the favorite mouse Mickey! We learned that the next convention will take place in Tucson, AZ in June 2011. It was also wonderful to see one of our own CAKD sister Jean Stockburger’s collegiate chapter Sigma Lambda (Auburn) being selected for Council Award Kappa Delta convention was a wonderful experience, and I hope that each of you will consider attending a convention in the future.

CAKD Events
Several Kappa Deltas got together for Happy Hours and Lunch Bunch across Central Arkansas this past month. Happy Hours at Boscos, West End, and Ya Ya’s were a success, and Lunch Bunch at Chick-fil-A was fun for sisters and their children alike. We would love to see some new faces come out to our upcoming events – so don’t be shy!

UALR
The only updated news about the colonization at UALR I have received came from the CDC who will be in residence helping to create the new colony. Her name is Katie Cooper (318-560-5733, kdcdckatiec@kappadelta.org), and if you get a chance send her a quick e-mail saying hello. She should be arriving in Little Rock around mid-August. Dates to keep in mind: Orientation Dates (and possible CAB training) - August 4th and 12th, Welcome Week - August 21-28, and Bid Day – September 27th at 2 p.m. Don’t forget to let us know if you would be willing to serve on CAB (contact Rachel or Louise Geib at chapterservices@kappadelta.org).

Scholarship Committee
Our scholarship committee has been working on fundraiser avenues for the UALR scholarship; however our August 1st deadline is quickly approaching for the 2010-2011 scholarship. If you have any contacts, or are interested in helping to fund this new scholarship, please let me know ASAP.

GLRAP Reference Book
Central Arkansas Kappa Delta members wrote over 60 references for Potential New Members from the Little Rock area. Another batch of young ladies will post within the next few days, so please send an e-mail to centralarkansaskd@hotmail.com if you are able to help us out with references from specific schools, churches, or community groups.

Fajitas, 'Ritas, and Recs

On Wednesday, July 29, CAKD will be having its annual reference and chapter support meeting. It will take place at the home of Angela Plymale (25 Kanis Creek Place, Little Rock 72223) at 6:30pm.

National Convention - Rachel will be traveling to Orlando for National Convention June 27 - July

Longwood Event (AA’s from Zeta, KD, Alpha Sig, and Tri-Sig). We are still working on this event, but plans have not been confirmed yet. TBA

New Kappa Delta chapter at UALR - I recently communicated via e-mail with Kappa Delta National Panhellenic Delegate Julie Johnson about the upcoming colonization at UALR. I think that nationals is excited about the upcoming colonization.. Many of the events will only need limited assistance from the AA and alumnae; however please mark Sunday, September 27th at 2 p.m. as the Bid Day Celebration, which will be on the campus of UALR.

Also, help from our young alumnae may be requested during welcome week (August 21-28), and possibly for orientation dates (July 10, Aug 4, of Aug 12). In addition, the CAB Interest/Training meeting will probably coincide with the UALR orientation dates (July 10, Aug 4, of Aug 12); so please keep those dates open for possible CAB training if you signed up earlier this spring. If you are still interested in CAB (which will probably be the alumnae called upon to assist with the recruitment efforts) and have not let us know, please contact me or Louise Geib at chapterservices@kappadelta.org

June Lunch Bunch

The Central Arkansas Kappa Delta Alumnae Association is having its June Lunch Bunch on Thursday, June 25. This is a family-friendly event that will take place at the Chick-fil-A (http://www.cfawestmarkham.com/) 6201 W. Markham, Little Rock, AR 72205.

With school out for the summer, and many MDO programs out as well; CAKD thought this might be the best way to get together. Kelly Givens Harbert (Delta Zeta)– was in the paper for the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Society Guild’s Symphony Designer House. She serves on the board of directors of the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra.

Cristina Broomas Easterling (Zeta Gamma) – her student pharmacy group, which she has served as president, won the best collegiate pharmacy group at their recent convention.

In celebration of NWFM, CAKD with help facilitate a secret sister exchange for the active CAKD members (and others who would like to participate). We’ll send you 4 postcards to send to your secret sis during the month of September, and you can do other things to let your sister know that you are thinking about her. We’ll have a secret sis reveal party at the end of the month

Rachel’s Ramblings
If you are like me, you can’t wait for summer to get here! Heading out for vacation, taking the kids to the pool and some relaxation are on my agenda for this summer. The CAKD officers hope that you have a nice, relaxing start to the summer – but don’t forget about your beloved Kappa Delta. I’ve attached a quick update on all things Central Arkansas Kappa Delta. May Lunch Bunch
5 KDs met for lunch at Pei Wei in Little Rock on May 14th for a quick bite to eat. We hope that you can come out to one of our future lunch bunch or happy hour events.

UALR
CAKD has no new report from nationals about the upcoming colonization at UALR. However, we expect to hear more throughout the summer, and especially after convention and the new CDC’s begin their duties.

The Scholarship committee has begun discussing the UALR scholarship that the Central Arkansas KD AA is going to help get started. We have completed the criteria, and now will begin the process of finding ways to fund the scholarship. There is still room on the committee for you, so please let us know if you are interested in helping us with the scholarship.

Panhellenic Tea / Little Rock Potential New Members
The panhelleic tea was held on April 26th, and that can only mean one thing for us – The reference book will start to be filled up with the potential new members from the Little Rock area. Please send an e-mail to centralarkansaskd@hotmail.com if you are able to help us out with references from specific schools, churches, or community groups.

KD Magazine Agency
You may have received an e-mail about this, but the Kappa Delta Foundation is wrapping up sales for year end on June 30th. They are still short of their $500,000 goal, and would love some help from the Alumnae. You can help out our local Alumnae Association by using the pull down menu and finding “Central Arkansas,” or you can help support any other chapter (but all the money raised goes to the Kappa Delta Foundation, and not individual chapters or AA’s) Click Here for a link to all the magazines that are available.

2009 Annual Business Meeting Minutes

Sixteen (16) Kappa Delta sisters met at Buffalo Grill in West Little Rock on April 16, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. After some fellowship and catching up with each other; the following business items were discussed.

Business Items
1. Officers – There are several openings on the CAKD Board. These positions include secretary, membership, and public relations. Please consider an officer position in our group. Rachel Lipsey is willing to stay on as president for two more terms (2009-2010 and 2010-2011); however she feels that it is best for the group, as well as herself, if someone else takes the overall leadership role in 2011-2012.

2. CAKD Events for the Year – The remaining three scheduled events for the year are as follows:

Recruitment References and Recruitment Goodie Bag Preparation: Wednesday, July 29th
Battered Women’s Shelter Philanthropy: Monday, November 16th (DATE CHANGE)
New Year’s Bunko Night: Tuesday, January 26th

Other events for the year will be lunch bunch and happy hour groups (monthly), as well as events associated with the colonization of UALR. Please check your e-mail and our Facebook group page (Central Arkansas Kappa Delta Alumnae Association) for the latest dates and times of these upcoming events. We will be setting the May Lunch Bunch and Happy Hour groups by the end of April.

3. Convention – Rachel will be representing the Central Arkansas Kappa Delta AA at convention this year, and is excited about the opportunity to attend. She has asked the AA for a reimbursement of $200 for convention expenses.

4. CAKD Philanthropy/Scholarship/Other Activities – One idea that some members have considered is starting a scholarship for the UALR chapter as a way to help recruit quality members to the chapter. If you are interested in joining the scholarship committee, please e-mail CAKD at centralarkansaskd@hotmail.com.

5. Area Chapter News
a.Colonization at UALR – We talked about the upcoming events for UALR, and the Alumnae Reception on March 31st. E-mails will be sent when firm dates are established for recruitment and chapter events.
b. Zeta Gamma – The University of Arkansas has the following events that they have invited alumnae to attend: Legacy Day (April 19th), Zeta Gamma Founder’s Day (April 25), and Early Years Reunion (Charter to 1993 Pledge Class – July31-Aug 2). Let us know if you need more information.
c. Other Chapters – No Report

6. CAKD References – We will continue to participate in the reference library with the Greater Little Rock Alumnae Panhellenic. These resumes will begin coming in after the April 26th Panhellenic Tea event, and continue throughout the summer. We will reserve the books for the July 29th meeting, as well as check throughout the summer. If you would like to join our “reference writers” group, please send me names of high schools, churches, or other organizations that you may know young ladies from central Arkansas who may be going through recruitment to centralarkansaskd@hotmail.com.

7. Greater Little Rock Panhellenic – The Recruitment Tea will be held on Sunday, April 26th at St. James Methodist Church from 2-4 pm. Please let area ladies know about this event to help them prepare for recruitment. The group will have a wrap up meeting in May, no meetings in the summer, and then start back in September with the regular meetings. Leslie Lee is our Panhellenic representative, but I am sure that she would love to have more KD’s join her. If you would more information, please contact centralarkansaskd@hotmail.com.

We had a very nice first meeting of the year for CAKD. We held officer elections, gave money to the KD Crisis fund, wrote notes to invite area KD's to join our group, and discussed this year's upcoming events. Ten of us had a great time eating and catching up with each other, and meeting new sisters! We hope to see even more of you for the July Goodie Bag meeting.

Our first meeting of the year will be at American Pie Pizza in North Little Rock (4830 North Hills Blvd, 72116) at 6:30 PM on Thursday, May 8th. CAKD will be providing pizza and non-alcoholic beverages for those sisters who can attend.
